Our curriculum improves the well-being and fitness of all children, through both the sporting skills taught, & the underpinning values and disciplines PE promotes.

Our EYFS curriculum includes activities that support achievement of the EYFS Statutory Framework, particularly in the areas of Physical, Social and Emotional Development (Building Relationships; Managing Self; Self-Regulation) and Physical Development (Gross Motor Skills and Fine Motor Skills)Swimming is an essential life skill and we aim to ensure that each child has successful obtained the skills necessary for water safety by the end of Key Stage 2.

The curriculum covers invasion, net & wall, striking and fielding games, gymnastics, dance, health and fitness, outdoor and adventure activity and swimming.

PE lessons are active, engaging and fully inclusive, and quality-first teaching is prioritised at all times.

We encourage children to take part in a wide-range of extra-curricular activities. Our extra-curricular programme is informed by Student Voice to maximise participation. Children are encouraged to remain active at break times and equipment is provided to encourage physical activity.

Children are invited to attend competitive sporting events and festivals within the local area and beyond. Our approach to competition is inclusive and every child in school is given the opportunity to participate.

Our progressive PE curriculum ensures pupils develop & improve their Physical competency (Fundamental Movement skills) and broader life skills (Personal, social, cognitive and creative).

Children learn transferable skills that benefit them not only within their physical pursuits, but within the classroom too.

We equip our children with the requisite skills and knowledge to lead and maintain a healthy and active lifestyle throughout their life.

We provide a pathway from curriculum to community sport through opportunities provided, encouraging a lifelong love of physical activity. Our broad PE, School Sport & Physical activity offer is designed to allow each child to reach their potential at Aldborough and Beyond.
